Job Position: Summer Watershed Technician

Start Date: May 6, 2016

End Date: September 1, 2016


Job Summary:


  • Work with agriculture producers to promote watershed programming

  • $18-20/hour 40 hours/week


Duties and Responsibilities


  • Attend local events and festivals to promote the watershed

  • Responsible for invasive species monitoring, develop a monitoring plan for invasive species, and track monitoring activities on the online database

  • Advertise, organize, and plan events such as a kids day at Thomson Lake to educate kids on watersheds

  • Work independently to collect and test water samples

  • Report to and take direction from a management committee

  • The student will develop problem solving, decision making, and navigational skills to meet goals and expectations

  • They will learn interpersonal skills such as team building, conflict management, and relationship building


Knowledge, Abilities and Personal Suitability


  • Knowledge of agriculture industry

  • Knowledge of soil, water, & plant identification  

  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently and proceed with objectives without supervision


Credentials and Experience


  • Student returning to studies in Agricultural or Environmental Science

  • Driver’s License

  • Access to vehicle
